In Sweden, the Fiber optic up to 120 GBPS.....!!!!

In Sweden, a new record is being built around fiber optic ...

In Sweden, a scale experiment is taking place right now. Cisco and Telia (Swedish ISP) test a fiber network to go up to 120 Gbps! They even made an application for deposit in the Guinness Book to be recognized as the largest LAN parties in the world ...

To be eligible, it will exceed the 20,000 customers who are connected to the first phase and 750 000 for the second phase. This fiber will be drawn to a length of 300 km between Stockholm and Jönköping, thus taking all subscribers of this operator between the two cities. Telia is responsible for the fiber and equipment such as Cisco CRS-3, high-speed router that can handle up to 322 Tb / s.

Both partners explain that if the test is successful, it will be a new record for the networks and a new perspective for the use of new technologies. This will allow the 750,000 lucky to eg download a movie in high definition (legally, of course) in just 0.05 seconds! Subscribers' computers, however, should become limiting factors, the world upside down?!

And we, during that time, we dream of the widespread 100 Mbps FTTH throughout ...

How to Make Your Own Chrome OS Chromebook

On June 15, Samsung and Acer will release the first consumer-oriented Chrome OS laptops, or Chromebooks as Google likes to call them. Both hardware- and software-wise, these netbooks are nothing special: You can download Chrome OS's open source brother, Chromium OS, for free -- and at around $400 for a Chromebook, you would certainly expect some better hardware than what Samsung and Acer are offering. In fact, for around $300 you can get a cheaper and more powerful netbook with Windows 7 pre-installed -- and it only takes about 30 minutes to wipe Windows and install Chrome OS yourself. You'll end up with a better and cheaper Chromebook.

For the most part, any x86-powered laptop or Atom netbook should run Chrome OS without difficulties. Almost every x86 computer will at least boot Chrome OS -- but in some cases, you might need to do a little hacking to get your WiFi adaptor and other peripherals to work.

As far as specific models go, the Samsung NC10 is a good bet, as is the Acer Eee PC, Acer Aspire, Toshiba Mini, and Fujitsu Lifebook. For more info on what does and doesn't work, check theChromium Developer Hardware list, and Hexxeh's netbook andlaptop compatibility lists. There's no reason you can't install (or dual-boot!) Chrome OS on a desktop PC, incidentally.

To perform the Chromium OS install process, you'll need a 2GB USB memory stick. Any plain, not-weirdly-partitioned USB storage device should be fine -- you'll only need it for the install, so don't worry about performance or reliability.

You now need to grab a copy of Chromium OS. The only real option, unless you want to build Chromium OS yourself, is to download an image from Hexxeh. Because Hexxeh's nightly builds are automatically generated from the latest Chromium source code, they are not guaranteed to work -- but on the flip side, Hexxeh's builds always represent the latest bleeding edge version of Chrome OS.

Change Transparency To See Underlying Windows With See Through Windows

Net book users, generally, rely on window adjustment utilities, such as, WinMixumumize, WinSplit Revolution, WinNumpad Positioner, etc., to manage and snap multiple application windows and work spaces at different sides of the screen. Since windows adjustment apps require you to first map keys with different screen positions, you can, alternatively, use an application to control the active window transparency in order to take a quick look at the underlying windows. See Through Windows is developed for this very purpose. While it eliminates the need of snapping active applications at different corners of screen, you just have to use a single hotkey combination over active application to toggle its opacity On / Off. Unlike previously featured Liquid Drag, which changes the transparency of windows only when they are being dragged, it can keep window transparent as long as you want to.

After the installation, it will sit in system tray. First, you must change the default hotkey combination and opacity level from Options. Just right-click its icon and select Options. From Hotkey pull-down menu, select an exclusive combination to avoid conflicts followed by transparency level. Under Move window section, you can disable application windows move functions. Once done, close the Options window to apply changes.

When you want to see underlying window(s), just use the specified hotkey combination. It will change active window opacity, letting you see what’s going on in underlying window(s). To disable transparency, just use the same hotkey again to make window opaque.

See Through Windows is an open source application and works on all versions of Windows.

Locate Missing Laptop or Mobile and Catch Stealer

If your laptop or Mobile (Android) has been stolen, then there is a way you can get it back right away and catch the stealer (thief) red handed. This program uses internet connection to send you information of stealer’s whereabouts and if thief is not connected to internet, the program attempts to connect to the nearest open wifi access point available. This gives you a better chance to locate the device. Prey helps you locate your missing laptop or Mobile by sending timed reports with a bunch of information of its whereabouts. This includes the general status of the computer, a list of running programs and active connections, fully-detailed network and wifi information, a screenshot of the running desktop and — in case your laptop has an integrated webcam — a picture of the thief (a picture of the guy who’s using the computer).

Prey is a lightweight application that will help you track and find your laptop if it ever gets stolen. It works in all operating systems and not only is it Open Source but also completely free. Prey uses a remote activation system which means the program sits silently in your computer until you actually want it to run. If so, it gathers all the information and sends it to your Prey web control panel or directly to your mailbox. The thief will never know his movements are being watched.

10 Ways to Make Your Laptop Run More Efficiently

Whether it’s for work or pleasure, a laptop can be a real joy. However, if your laptop  is not running as fast as it did when it was new, it may be time for some routine maintenance and cleanup.
slow_pc_cartoon
Here are a few simple tips that you can use to make your laptop run faster, and last longer:
  1. Defragment your laptop on a regular basis – at least once a week. Your computer breaks all of your files up into many pieces, and scatters them throughout your hard drive.  What defragmenting does is take all these mixed and scattered pieces, and re-organizes them neatly into a space where they can be easily accessed more quickly.
  2. Cleaning your Registry is a must. One of the most important parts of Windows is the registry. Fatal errors to your laptop can occur from disfiguration or corruption of this section. The most common cause of registry problems is buggy software installation.  Keep your registry clean and consider getting and running a registry cleaner from time to time. There are many of these programs available online, and some of them are even free – Keep Your Registry Clean With Mr.Fix – Registry Cleaner.

CONCEPT OF AMOLED

Schematic of an active matrix OLED display

Active-matrix OLED (Active-matrix organic light-emitting diode or AMOLED) is a display technology for use in mobile devices and televisions. OLED describes a specific type of thin film display technology in which organic compounds form the electroluminescent material, and active matrix refers to the technology behind the addressing of pixels. AMOLED  technology is currently used in mobile phone and media players and continues to make progress towards low power, low cost and large size (for example 40 inch) for applications such as televisions.

The organic materials used in AMOLED displays are prone to degradation over a period of time. However, technology has been developed to compensate for material degradation.

An active matrix OLED display consists of a matrix of OLED pixels that generate light upon electrical activation that have been deposited or integrated onto a thin film transistor (TFT) array, which functions as a series of switches to control the current flowing to each individual pixel.

Typically, this continuous current flow is controlled by at least two TFTs at each pixel, one to start and stop the charging of a storage capacitor and the second to provide a voltage source at the level needed to create a constant current to the pixel and eliminating need for the very high currents required for passive matrix OLED operation.

TFT backplane technology is crucial in the fabrication of AMOLED displays. Two primary TFT backplane technologies, namely polycrystalline silicon (poly-Si) and amorphous silicon (a-Si), are used today in AMOLEDs. These technologies offer the potential for fabricating the active matrix backplanes at low temperatures (below 150°C) directly onto flexible plastic substrates for producing flexible AMOLED displays.

Manufacturers have developed in-cell touch panels, integrating the production of capacitive sensor arrays in the AMOLED module fabrication process. In-cell sensor AMOLED fabricators include AU Optronics and Samsung. Samsung has marketed their version of this technology as Super AMOLED.

                                                            Advantages

Active-matrix OLED displays provide higher refresh rates than their passive-matrix OLED counterparts, and they consume significantly less power. This advantage makes active-matrix OLEDs well suited for portable electronics, where power consumption is critical to battery life.

The amount of power the display consumes varies significantly depending on the color and brightness shown. As an example, one commercial QVGA OLED display consumes 3 watts while showing black text on a white background, but only 0.7 watts showing white text on a black background.

                                                  Disadvantages

AMOLED displays may be difficult to view in direct sunlight compared to LCD displays. Samsung's Super AMOLED technology addresses this issue by reducing the size of gaps between layers of the screen.

The organic materials used in AMOLED displays are prone to degradation over a period of time. However, technology has been developed to compensate for material degradation.
