Why Your Company Needs To Hack Itself more Remotely start your car using an Arduino

http://biobug.org/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/Image.jpg
Credit: Blobug
This DIYer had a 1st generation iPhone lying around, so he decided to put it to good use.  You can use any phone to accomplish this, even a $10 prepaid phone.  An SMS to the iPhone goes through an Arduino which tells yours car to start or stop from anywhere.  There’s some custom circuitry and programming which is all included in the instructions. When a text message is sent to the iPhone, the iPhone tells the Arduino to start the engine, and the iPhone sends a message back reporting that the start has commenced.

Requirements:
An old jailbroken iPhone, an Arduino, iphone breakout board (I used a PodBreakout Mini) 4x 10k resistors, 1x TIP120, a 5 volt switching supply cell charger (easier than building one), some wiring ability and a general understanding of unix/perl/arduino.

The code:
You can get the code to make it all work here. (SMSresponder.pl, com.SMSresponder.startup.plist and
SMSresponder is a perl script that runs in a loop. Every 30 seconds it checks for a new message since the last time it ran. place it in /var/root/bin/ (you’ll need to create that directory) as this is where the startup system looks for it. You can put it somewhere else, just edit the plist to match.

iPhone 5 release details "leaked"

http://cdn.mos.techradar.com/classifications/Mobile%20Phones/iPhone/iPhone%204S/
Credit: Tech Radar
An employee for Foxconn in China has reportedly stated production of a device dubbed the iPhone 5 is about to go into production.

The source also revealed to 9to5Mac there are several sample handsets doing the rounds, but all differ slightly from each other. It is not clear which, if any, is the final device.

Some similarities between all the samples have been noted, including a screen which is 4-inches (or larger) in size, a different form-factor – hinting that Apple is going to move away from the 4/4S design and the devices are longer and wider than previous iPhones.

iOS 5.0.1 up and running

Good News for all iOS 5.0.1 has been jailbroken successfully and that too untethered.....
In this guide i will show you exactly how to do this.

Lets initiate the process.....

REQUIREMENTS
  1. iOS 5.0.1 ipsw file (google it and you'll find many there).
  2. Redsnow 0.9.10 b3 (b3 is very important b1 and b2 conatain lots of bugs again google will help).
  3. Requires iTunes 10.5 or later.
  4. iDevice (iPhone above 3G would be required because of speed 3G will hang a lot)
So we are done with the requirements so now this will be it. Here are the Steps......

  1. First of all put your iDevice in DFU mode. You can do it in redsnow itself.
    • Start rednsow -> Click Extras -> Pwned DFU mode -> Follow the instructions on the screen
    • For users who want to know about PWNED DFU mode- it is a deep DFU mode where the device accepts the iPhone for update without checking for many things like custom firmware. For more information just mail me at charanjit@borntohack.in
  2. After getting into DFU mode screen must be black without anything on it. Then Start iTunes and hit shift+restore (for Windows users) or alt+restore (for Mac Users) and then browse to the ipsw file that you download of iOS 5.0.1
  3. After all the things done your iPhone must come to life with the iPhone setup on the screen. You can do it but i recommend to jailbreak it first.
  4. To jailbreak the device open redsnow 0.9.10 b3 again.
    • goto extras->select ipsw -> browse to the download iOS 5.0.1 ipsw-> hit back.
    • Now you should be on the screen where you selected Extras but this time select jailbreak.
    • Follow the instructions on the screen when you hit next on redsnow
  5. Now you have a jailbroken device in your hand.......  You can try Appsync 5.0+ if you want to install cracked apps just add the repository http://cydia.hackulo.us....
While running cydia keep one thing in mind donot let the the screen get locked as update stops. For more information read step 6.

(iPod, iPad and iPhone(who have official carrier) people stop here )

  6. Now for those who want to unlock their iPhone for unofficial carriers just go to cydia and wait for the updating to finish ( you can see cydia updating on the top when the black bar is there and update is running. Here donot let the the screen get locked as update stops). Now install ultrasnow 1.2.5. it only supports a few basebands read my previous posts.

Now you are done with the device go on have fun!!!!!!
If any problem occurs the mail me at charanjit@borntohack.in OR just comment here......

Unlock Your iPhone 4S Without Jailbreaking

A new unlock method has surfaced today which claims to work without the need of any software, hardware or jailbreak.

A bug in iOS 5 discovered by Michael Capozzi theoretically allows any iPhone 4S to be unlocked to any GSM carrier. However, Capozzi says he was only able to test with T-Mobile.
We are currently working towards independent confirmation of his method. It does require you to have an active T-Mobile SIM card (with data working). Remember it must be cut to micro-SIM size to fit the iPhone 4S.

The Steps:
? Insert original carrier AT&T SIM card
? Dial 611 for AT&T customer service hotline and drop the call
? Turn on Airplane Mode
? Take out AT&T SIM card
? Insert T-Mobile SIM card
? Make sure WiFi is off ( also tap on ‘Forget this Network” to make sure it doesn’t connect automatically later)
? Switch off Airplane Mode and iPhone will search for network. This is followed by the Apple splash screen appearing.
? Activation Required will be displayed on the screen
? EDGE network will activate automatically – notice the ‘E’ on the top left corner of the screen
? Wait for about 20-30 seconds and turn off the phone
? Turn on iPhone and the same Activation Required screen will be displayed
? When you see one signal bar, tap on Use Cellular Connection
? Eject SIM card
? Activation Required screen will be displayed the second time
? Insert SIM card
? Unlocked!
We are getting some confirmation reports. If you are able to test this, please let us know your results. Remember this method may unlock your device; however, it will not last through a reboot. So while not practical for day to day use. It may benefit those traveling abroad.

Update:
Gizmodo is claiming some confirmation as well.

Update x2:
MuscleNerd notes that while you might be able to successfully get network access, you will lose it once the network is refreshed which makes this procedure even less useful.
“If you are successful at temporarily gaining network access, you’ll lose it as soon as TMSI is refreshed (happens often)”

Just simply update to iOS 5.0.1 and go to cydia then install ultrasnow (make sure while installing ultrasnow your sim is out of the sim tray) reboot the phone and while rebooting put the sim back in and then wait it may take upto 3 minutes so be patient!!!!!

Note: the repository for ultrasnow is http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com  (yes it is a zero in ultrasn0w)
add this repo on the iPhone (if you dont know please refer to some of the earlier posts).

So it is just a minor update for unlockable basebands to unlock the basebands that were unlockable earlier as well.

Siri hacked to work on iPhone 3GS

http://cultofmac.cultofmaccom.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/panorama
Credit: Cult of Mac
We recently told you about the hidden panorama mode in the iOS 5 Camera app that could be enabled by editing a .plist file. Since then, a jailbreak tweak called “Firebreak” has been released that automatically enables the feature on any jailbroken iOS 5 device.

Panorama mode in the iOS Camera actually works, and you can get it on your own device right now without jailbreaking.

A simple hack has surfaced that enables the hidden panorama mode on the iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPod touch, and iPad 2 running iOS 5. To enable the feature, you’ll need to perform a modified backup of your iOS device in iTunes. You will also need to restore from a new backup, so keep that in mind before continuing.

How to Get WiFi Network Info from iOS 5 Notification Center

Recently Apple has launched iOS 5. If you have upgraded your iPhone, iPod touch, iPad to iOS 5 then you can get WiFi network info from your notification center by using a new jailbreak tweak available in Cydia. The name of this tweak is WiFiCenter for NotificationCenter. This tweak is developed by Philippe.

Notification Center is the most interesting aspects of iOS 5. After you have installed this tweak on your jailbroken iOS device, it will display informations about the WiFi network you are connected to and also it will add a new button using which you can enable or disable wifi right from your notification center. Tap on Settings app from your iPhone homescreen then tap on Notifications to configure NotificationCenter addons.

WiFiCenter for NotificationCenter
WiFiCenter for NotificationCenter is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, iPad running iOS 5.0 or later. One of the most important things is that you don’t need to pay any money to use this tweak. WiFiCenter for NotificationCenter is available in Cydia under BigBoss repository for free of cost. If you want to get Wifi network info from your Notification Center then simply install this tweak on your iOS device. In order to install this tweak on your jailbroken iPhone, simply launch Cydia on your iPhone and search for WiFiCenter for NotificationCenter then tap on “install” button, then tap on “Confirm” button to download and install this tweak on your iPhone. This tweak will be installed automatically on your iOS device.

Install iOS 5 on iPhone

iOS 5 comes up with the whole new baseband version so upgrading via iTunes would not be a good idea for people who rely on unlocking of the device via ultrasnow (means using the not supported carriers as well). Presently only tethered jailbreak of all the devices on iOS 5 is available (menas you have to connect your device with the PC and boot with ibooty it will only then boot). So if you are ready to do this continue reading otherwise you can read it for knowledge of the same.

Ok so letz get started. So firstly you will need some softwares:-
  1. iOS 5 ipsw file get it from here.
  2. snowbreeze for iOS 5 get it from here.
  3. redsnow for iOS 5 get it from here. for Windows and for mac.
first of all start snowbreeze and then put the ipsw file of iOS 5 into snowbreeze (by drag and drop or by locating the file) then build the ipsw. Snowbreeze will save your modified file on the desktop.
Now open iTunes and then keep pressing shift on the keyboard and then press restore button in iTunes and locate the file which is saved on desktop (snowbreeze modified). Software will install and then run redsnow. Now jailbreak as per instruction on redsnow and there it is ready to go ....

You can now use iCloud: Its free

Apple devices can be addictive: People buy one tiny iPod, fall in love, and end up with three or four other Apple products. Now if only they could see all their data on all those devices simultaneously.

Starting today, they can.

Thanks to iCloud, the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch all have the same document with no work on the user’s part.

ICloud is designed to store and replicate documents, music, apps and 1,000 photos on PCs, the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. It also syncs contacts, calendars and email so all your machines and devices have the same data and content. It will back up five gigabytes of data, but certain types aren’t counted against that total. The best part: It’s free.

I’ve been testing iCloud’s sync ability between a MacBook Pro, iPhone 4S and iPad 3G. I also accessed and added content using iCloud.com. At first, I ran into a few hiccups with syncing photos, but an Apple spokesman explained that the company’s servers were occasionally down while they were being prepared for Wednesday’s iCloud launch. After that, iCloud worked without a hitch—well enough that I stopped thinking about which device held what since they were all updated with the same content.

On the downside, iCloud doesn’t automatically sync videos to other devices. In WiFi, it won’t sync edited photos if edits are made on a device after its camera app is closed. (This includes removing red eye, cropping and auto-enhancing images.) And document sharing on iCloud is focused on sharing with oneself, not with other people, unlike the document-sharing solutions from Google and Microsoft.

I found iCloud’s most useful feature to be Photo Stream, which automatically sends images captured by an iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch up to iCloud and replicates them on all other iCloud devices, one by one. Watching these photos pop onto the screen of my computer, iPad or iPhone was nothing short of delightful.

Photos are pushed via iCloud to the Mac and PC in their full resolution and sent to the iPad, iPod Touch or iPhone in a resolution that’s optimized for those displays.

Photo Stream sends images captured by mobile devices, such as the iPhone and iPad, up to iCloud and replicates them on all other iCloud devices,

By default, any images imported to a PC or Mac are automatically sent into Photo Stream, though this setting can be turned off. Devices need only be powered on and in WiFi to receive images from Photo Stream.

Each photo remains in Photo Stream for

EyeEm: Another Fun & Useful iPhone Camera App

You may have heard that Apple’s iPhone 4 is the most popular camera used by members of the international photo sharing site Flickr.com. Even I can attest that my three year-old compact Canon Power Shot G9 rarely sees the light of day, while my less expensive iPhone camera is used on a weekly basis.

Much of the iPhone camera’s popularity is due to its portability, but its appeal also stems from several of the hundreds of third-party iPhone camera apps that enable users to not only take photos, but to also process and share them from within the phone itself.
If you’re an avid iPhone camera user, you no doubt have heard of or use the popular Instagram app which seems to have a cult following. With over 150 million downloads of that app, it’s not surprising to see similar iPhone camera apps come onto the market.

Thus a new camera app called EyeEm may very well attract its own users and followers. EyeEm’s features and capabilities are similar to Instagram’s, but it has a few unique approaches. Let’s check them out.

Taking Photos

Like most iPhone apps, EyeEm is ready for use right out of the box. The opening screen asks you to set up a photo sharing account, either using your Facebook account or EyeEm’s own set up. The simple, well-designed interface presents you  with a nice size camera and “My Vibes” icons, on which you tap to get started.
best iphone camera app
EyeEm provides a slightly different approach however for taking pictures. Before you snap a photo you can select one of ten retro, lo-fi photo filters (Normal, “Magix”, “Wintage” B&W, Strawberry, etc) which are popular with many of the artsy iPhone camera apps.
best iphone camera app
Though your selected filter is applied after you click the shutter, you can replace it with another filter before the photo is saved. This approach saves you a tap or two, and it also provides you a preview of what your photo will look like before it is taken. You can also just shoot in normal mode and change to another filter after a shot is taken.
These type of artistic photo filters are becoming a little clichéd amongst iPhone camera apps, but they certainly save you the trouble of applying similar effects in Photoshop.
iphone camera app
Unlike some camera apps, EyeEm also includes a built-in “flash” to brighten photos, and a front-facing camera option. However, there is no zoom slider or self-timer for setting the shutter release.

Saving and Tagging Photos

After photos are taken in EyeEm, they are saved to the camera roll on your iPhone, at which time you’re provided with the app’s tagging, photo management, and photo sharing features.
iphone camera app
EyeEm uses the geo-location component of your iPhone to tag where a photo is taken, e.g. at home, at an outdoor location, or say at an event. Of course EyeEm can’t read the content of your photo, but it does provide an easy-to-use tagging process useful for managing and sharing your pictures. You can apply one or more tags to a photo as well as customize and add your own.
iphone camera app
In terms of location tags, EyeEm also presents you with a list of places—such as street names, schools, and popular businesses—near and around the location where you take a photo. If an appropriate tag does not pop up, you tap on the “Check in” button a few times to see more tagging options. All this is to save you the trouble of having to manually type tags yourself. Depending upon how particular you are about tagging, you may or may not like this approach.

Sharing Photos

Similar to other camera apps, EyeEm provides options for sharing your photos on Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Foursquare, and Tumblr. You can also share your photos privately with selected friends.
iphone camera
Also, as you probably expect, EyeEm includes photo sharing streams in which you can view photos uploaded by other users. Selected images can be tagged as favorites and shared via e-mail, Facebook, and Twitter.
best iphone camera app
There is also an “Edit Photo” option, but the title is misleading, for it only allows you to delete selected photos from your EyeEm account.

All in all, EyeEm is a well-designed and fairly straightforward iPhone camera app to use. It is not much different from Instagram, but it may well develop a huge number of followers, particularly since it is a free download from the App Store.

Let us know what you think of EyeEm. Will it be added to your folder of existing camera apps on your iPhone?

sshot-2011-04-25-[00-26-16]
4. Then you will see the instructions on the lower section of the screen. Notice that to begin, you’ll need to download the Splashtop Remote desktop app.
sshot-2011-04-25-[00-26-43]
5. Now you’ll need to visit the Splashtop Remote website and download the Remote Streamer for your Mac or PC.
sshot-2011-04-25-[00-13-19]

12. Then you’ll be prompted to enter in the password you created in the earlier steps.
sshot-2011-04-25-[02-14-02]
13. Then you can use it just like a touchpad on a laptop to move the cursor around, right and left click, double tap an application to install it…etc..
sshot-2011-04-25-[02-14-27]
14. Tap on the icon in the upper left corner of the touchpad screen to bring up the keyboard features.
sshot-2011-04-25-[02-15-52]
15. Now you have more controls to type in text, access the Windows key, arrows, and more.
sshot-2011-04-25-[02-16-18]
16. Tap on the icon in the upper left corner again to return to the touchpad.
sshot-2011-04-25-[02-16-42]
17. You can choose different settings for the touchpad button including tweaking the sensitivity to how you like it.
sshot-2011-04-25-[02-18-56]
18. This is a great solution if you have an HTPC or want to kick back in your office chair and watch media on on Windows Media Center or iTunes.
sshot-2011-04-25-[02-04-52]
sshot-2011-04-25-[02-08-50]
The Splashtop Remote Touchpad is very responsive and easy to use. Of course you’ll need to use it over a local Wi-Fi network. If you have an iPhone or iPod Touch and want an easy to use remote control for your computer, this app definitely gets the job done.
They also offer an iPad version for $2.99 if you want to use that instead and remember it works for Mac’s as well.
